It’s not without reason that Gamescom is one of the most interesting and largest trade fairs in this country. The high number of visitors coupled with the status of the largest computer and video game trade fair in the world, which has been achieved for years, is now a guarantee of success that should not be underestimated. The pressure on the exhibitors is correspondingly great; no one wants to get lost in the crowd or disappoint their own fans with the content presented – after all, it is a global business worth billions with a lot of competition and even more creative responses from other companies. Even though the focus here was of course on the content of the presentations and the content presented by the producers, a look at the exhibition stands is particularly interesting for experts.
Products from BAS-Innovation were also represented, as our practical and advertising flat cubes, for example, were used and were able to provide stands with added value.
With around 373,000 visitors spread over the trade fair days, Gamescom once again managed to set records. This is obvious, after all, the hobby of “gaming” is popular across generations and therefore attracts both players who just want to quickly demonstrate their skills on the console in the football simulator every now and then before football training, as well as those who have large parts of their Spend the day in front of the virtual machines.
What Gamescom offers is incredibly varied. The focus is of course on the big releases from the biggest video game producers. New games are introduced, interesting variations are published and a huge program is advertised. That alone is a huge show that attracts many fans. Queuing for hours for just a few minutes of play time is not a problem for most visitors and they are happy to accept it.
But there is also a lot to see around it. From the entertainment program in the form of large e-sports stages, amateur tournaments for visitors to well-known personalities who attract hordes of fans, Gamescom is a huge crowd puller.
What also sets Gamescom apart is the mix of available stands. From racing simulators to role-playing games to shooters, everything was represented again this year. It has often been shown that both the giants of the industry and the indie productions are not above spending a lot of money to offer fans an attractive gaming experience.
From powerful computers and consoles to test out the alpha and beta versions to the countless giveaways, there was nothing more that fans and gaming enthusiasts could have expected. This applies both to those promotional gifts that are implemented directly into the new gaming setup as well as to what may have already ended up in one of Cologne’s garbage cans on the way home.
Gamescom is particularly appealing every year in terms of trade fair construction, as there is a lot on offer here. Here too, savings were rarely made, after all, the industry is known for erecting large and impressive buildings in order to convey impressions to as many viewers as possible via large screens and figures of the game heroes. What is particularly impressive is how well your own theme is implemented into the stand year after year, while at the same time being advertised.
The details are designed to give gamers a good experience and that’s exactly where our flat cubes appeared . These offer several advantages, as they also serve as an advertising platform, while the seat can also be used. Furthermore, even when it is very crowded, you can sit on it from all sides – the low height still allows other visitors to see over the person sitting, so it continues to convey the desired impressions to as many visitors as possible. Last but not least, a bit of seating comfort is always welcome by trade fair visitors, ideal for as long as possible at the stand and an ideal advertising message.
A gaming pioneer who has relied on the flat cubes from BAS-Innovation is Rockfish Gaming. The small indie game manufacturer has cleverly integrated these into the overall system and thus presented its own game Everspace 2. The pressure was on the company logo. The flat cubes were distributed around gaming stations with four computers each with real chairs. Friends of the game testers and other spectators had the opportunity to look over their shoulders and take part directly in the game.
Of course, pictures of our Flatcubes were also posted on social media by introducing the stand there. It is difficult to imagine better advertising that also serves as an element of trade fair design!
